Hello fellow SCFMers,

Time is once again flying by and we find ourselves past the midpoint of
the year.  It has been a hot summer and here's hoping that everyone is
keeping up pace with your institutions.  That's what SCFM is trying to
do in preparing for the 2007 Membership Directory. 

The Directory is getting an overhaul and we need your help.  Many people
have entered the museum field in the Palmetto State since the 2005
Directory was distributed.  We have also seen many of our friends and
colleagues leave the museum world for other professional ventures, while
others have moved from one institution to another.  With this in mind we
are updating the Directory and providing the most up-to-date information
about you and your institution.  

All of the information in the Directory is based on that which we
receive from your SCFM membership renewal.  It has come to our attention
that many employees, as well as institutions, have not renewed their
memberships for 2006.  We even have some past members who have not
renewed since 2003.  Your current membership is the only way to ensure
that you are included in the Directory.

We encourage you to renew your membership, or join, and reintroduce
yourself into the museum network in South Carolina.  It is only with
your participation and attendance at the conferences and workshops, or
postings in the fantastic new MUSE newsletter, that SCFM can become a
stronger organization and more vital to the growth and development of
our museum community. 

If you have not renewed your membership for 2006, please take the time
to do so now.  We do not want any anyone or their institution to be
excluded from the Directory, but only you can help us.  Simply go to
http://www.southcarolinamuseums.org/ and select Join SCFM on the left
side of the screen.

For those who have already renewed their 2006 membership, please inform
us of any changes in name (i.e. marriage), position title, address,
phone number, e-mail address, website, etc.  Please send your updated
information to the SCFM Secretary and Membership Coordinator at
shaimanj at gwm.sc.edu.  Your correct information will make the Directory a
resource we all can use.  Deadline for renewing, joining, or updating
your current membership information is Friday August 18, 2006.  Please
pass this information along to your colleagues and anyone not currently
a member of the SCFM list serve - SCMUSNET located on our website at
