The South Carolina State Museum may want to hire YOU!
Are you looking for a change of scenery and responsibilities but still

your institutions bottom line and directly reporting to a board? Perhaps
you are the qualified person the South Carolina State Museum is looking
for to fill the new Director of Interpretation position. Have we piqued

The South Carolina State Museum is the largest and most comprehensive
museum in the state and we're looking for a focused, creative and
energetic overachiever to lead the newly formed Department of
Interpretation, which is a consolation of collections, public programs,
and education departments.
(Tell me more!) The Director of Interpretation will be a member of
senior management and will report directly to the executive director.
The successful candidate will work in conjunction with the executive
director to develop content strategies for new exhibits, public and
educational programs. In addition the director will develop methods to
increase visitation and revenues, expand partnerships and access
budgetary and staffing needs for the department along with directly
supervising 5 full-time staff from curatorial, public program and
education.
Exceptional written and verbal skills are a must along with possessing a
sense of humor and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
In order to be considered the successful candidate will have a minimum
of a BA/BS with 7-10 years supervisory experience in museums, business
or entertainment setting.
