Director of Programs  


Historic Columbia Foundation, a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization with
the mission to nurture, support and protect the historical and cultural
heritage of Columbia and Richland County through programs of advocacy,
education and preservation announces the opening for a Director of
Programs.  

 

This full-time senior staff professional administers all programmatic
activities of Historic Columbia Foundation (tours, educational,
preservation, and special events) by maintaining current initiatives as
well as developing and implementing new projects.  In addition, the
person in this position plans, coordinates, and evaluates all
educational programs.

 

Duties include:

 

*	Develop, organize and administer daily, periodic and annual
programs for students and adults by coordinating the actions of key
personnel on logistics and content.

 

*	Work with interpretive, educational, and preservation staff to
develop and disseminate information through tour materials showcasing
Columbia's and Richland County's history.

 

*	Work with senior staff team in developing programs associated
specifically with the seven historic sites managed by Historic Columbia
Foundation.

 

*	Oversee and coordinate Historic Columbia Foundation's education
and volunteer and visitor services staff.

 

*	Assist in identifying and acquiring funding through a variety of
source for programmatic-related activities.

 

*	Work with senior staff team in developing community-based
programs in Columbia and Richland County.

 

*	Develop and implement programs designed to heighten public
awareness of Historic Columbia Foundation, increase diversity in all
aspects of program participants, and enhance institutional membership
base.

 

*	Work with senior staff team to develop annual budget and
strategic goals.

 

Qualifications:

 

MA in Education, Public History, History, Art History or related field,
with a minimum of three years of related experience or BA in Education,
Public History, History, Art History, or the arts or a related field and
a minimum of five years related experience.  Excellent speaking, writing
and interpersonal skills.  Prior experience working with federal, state
and/or local programmatic initiatives.  Experience working with local
non-profit organizations a plus.

 

M-F 8:30-5 + evening and weekend hours as necessary.  Salary
