Dear Friends, Colleagues, and potential scholarship applicants...

 

I would like to remind one and all the deadline for scholarship
applications is January 19, and that is only TWO WEEKS from this coming
Friday (YIKES!!!). 

 

Following is the pertinent info and instructions. Please share this with
your staff, interns, students or friends statewide) that you feel might
have interest in this opportunity. I look very forward to seeing a
wonderful representation of our "future" leaders represented in the
field.

Christopher T. Loeblein Annual


Conference Scholarships


 


The South Carolina Federation of Museums is offering up to seven
scholarships to attend the 2007 annual meeting, Looking Back, Moving
Forward ~ Reflecting on South Carolina. The meeting will present an
opportunity for students and new staff members to meet their colleagues
and to investigate current issues in the field. The 2007 SCFM annual
conference will be held March 7 - 9 in Sumter.

 

Who is Eligible?

 

The scholarships are available to senior-level undergraduates and
graduate students preparing for careers in museums as well as new and
seasoned museum professionals. Special consideration will be given (but
is not limited) to those attending the conference for the first time or
representatives from the museum's technical and support fields.

 

Scholarship winners receive a one-year membership in SCFM and a $200
stipend in addition to a waiver of the full conference registration.
Recipients will be recognized at the Annual Awards Luncheon and Business
Meeting held on March 9, 2007.

 

How Can I Apply?

 

Scholarship applications must include the following materials: 

*	A cover letter that details the applicant's career or
institutional goals and describes how conference attendance will help
the applicant or the applicant's museum achieve those goals. 
*	Applicant's resume & contact information
*	Two letters of recommendation

 

Applicants must send three copies of their application materials to:

The SCFM Scholarship Committee will review applications.

 

Applications must be received by SCFM on or before January 19, 2007.
Scholarship recipients will be notified by telephone no later than

SCFM's scholarship program is named for Christopher T. Loeblein, Curator
of History for the Charleston Museum from 1977 to his passing in 2001.
These awards honor Mr. Loeblein's support of the development of emerging
museum professionals, his service to SCFM, and his enduring spirit of
collegiality and friendship.
