Macro-Photography Class to be Offered at the Pickens County Museum


Award winning photographer, Clay Bolt to conduct morning workshop on
Saturday July 14

 

 Don't miss this opportunity to take an introductory class in
Macro-photography. Award-winning photographer, Clay Bolt, is the
instructor for this Saturday, July 14 early morning class scheduled 8:00
a.m. - 11:00 a.m. The class size is limited to 10 students so sign-up
today. Pre-registration is required and tuition is $50.  This class is
suitable for ages 16 years and up.  Students will meet at the Pickens
County Museum in the Liz Smith-Cox Educational Studio then move outside
into the Joe & Maggie Rampey Native Plant Gardens.  

 

CLASS DESCRIPTION:  Intro to Macro-photography: Take a unique, hands-on
journey into the amazing world of macro-photography.  This class will
focus on camera techniques, composition and a variety of different ways
to approach subject matter.  No previous experience is required but
participants must bring their own cameras and related supplies.  The
students will use the museum's own "Joe & Maggie Rampey Interpretive
Native Plant Gardens" landscape which features native plants.  

 

INSTRUCTOR:  Clay Bolt has spent the last several years using
photography to educate others about the importance of cherishing and
protecting South Carolina's wild places for generations to come.  His
work is currently displayed in the "Sealevel Gallery" at the Pickens
County Museum where you can visit and enjoy the "Trends in Photography"
exhibition.  The Nature Conservancy and the National Wildlife Federation
has also featured works by Clay Bolt and he was a semi-finalist in both
the 2006 and 2007 BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition.  He
is a staff-photographer for the South Carolina Magazine and his regular
column, "Our Wild State", can be found in each issue. 

 

PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED:  To register for this class, or if you have
questions, please, contact the Pickens County Museum, located at the
intersection of Highway 178 and Johnson Street in Pickens or phone at
(864) 898-5963 The museum is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9
a.m.-5 p.m., Thursday from 9 a.m.-7:30 p.m., and Saturday from 9
a.m.-.4:30 p.m.

 

Please make your $ 50 registration check payable to the Pickens County
Museum.

 

In case of bad weather, the class will be rescheduled.
