EIHPS, a historic preservation society and museum seeks an energetic and innovative professional to serve as the Society's director. EIHPS operates a small museum on Edisto Island and serves as an advocate for historic preservation. Plans are underway for a new facility, a new permanent exhibition and a capital campaign to fund expansion. The new facility is scheduled to open in February 2009 with the Smithsonian traveling exhibit, "Key Ingredients: America by Food," sponsored by the SCHC.  EIHPS also works with other organizations on the Island to preserve Edisto's built and natural environment. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in museum studies, public history, history, or a discipline related to the museum's mission and collections and the ability to initiate programs, train and motivate people, speak publicly, and deal effectively with the public, private groups, and community organizations. Previous managerial or supervisory experience and grant writing experience preferred. Salary Range: $35,000-$40,000.
