The Pickens County Museum and Table Rock State Park
presents
"An Old Time Dance & Frolic at the Barn"
Saturday, October 13 at the "Barn" at Table Rock State Park
The Pickens County Cultural Commission invites one and all to join us
in the mountains for an evening of fun and "frolic" in the form of a
true Ol' Time Mountain Square Dance on Saturday, October 13 from 6:30 to
8:30 in the "Barn" at the beautiful Table Rock State Park. Come join the
friends of the Pickens County Museum as "Music in the Mountains 2007"
continues with this partnering of the museum's programming with the
State Park facilities.
"Callers" for this evening of dance will be Steve and Becky Walker.
Steve and Becky are well known in Walhalla's English Country Dance scene
and will make it fun and easy for anyone wishing to get started dancing!
Music for the dance will be provided by "The Lost Dog String Band,"
featuring local champion fiddler, Jeannie Green and her husband (local
champion banjoist), Richard Green. Count on some foot-stomping music by
some great pickers!
Join us from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. for this evening of fun and
entertainment. Only $ 5.00 for adults and FREE for children 13 and
under. (if you're coming to the dance, park entry is free). Whether you
decide to join the fun and frolic on the floor or just come by to
"set-a-spell" you'll enjoy this re-living of the Table Rock square
dances of years gone by.
"Music in the Mountains 2007" is sponsored by a private benefactor.
The Pickens County Museum of Art & History is funded in part by Pickens
County, members and friends of the museum and a grant from the South
Carolina Arts Commission, which receives support from the National
Endowment for the Arts.
Table Rock State Park, operated by the South Carolina Department of
Parks, Recreation and Tourism is just off Cherokee Foothills Scenic Hwy
11 in the northeastern corner of Pickens County. The Table Rock Barn can
be found by entering the Park's West Gate, turning left at the Table
Rock Store and continuing straight until you reach the barn.
