Award Winning Illustrator and Children's Author to Present Program and
Book Signing at the Pickens County Museum
A day of storytelling begins with Kate Salley Palmer's October 20
program
Local children's book author & illustrator and former prize-winning
newspaper editorial cartoonist, Kate Salley Palmer, will present a free
program and sign copies of her books on Saturday, October 20th at the
Pickens County Museum.
>From 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Palmer will give a PowerPoint presentation to
show her illustrations, as well as pictures of the real people and
places that inspired her stories. She will share how she illustrates
books, where her ideas come from and how long each book takes from
inception to publication.
>From 11:00 a.m. to Noon, she will sign her books. Bring one of her books
for your own collection or purchase one from the Museum Shop. Some of
her many books are: A Gracious Plenty, The Pink House, The Little
Chairs, Palmetto-Symbol of Courage, Francis Marion and the Legend of the
Swamp Fox, and Bear Hugs.
Being held in conjunction with the "Sixth Annual Hagood Mill
Storytelling Festival," parents and children are invited to enjoy Mrs.
Palmer's morning program at the Pickens County Museum and then head out
to the Hagood Mill Historic Site & Folklife Center for an afternoon of
storytelling. This program is part of the Pickens County Museum's
continuing effort to provide a variety of entertaining and educational
programming for the community. It is funded in part by donations from
Carroll M. Wilson and the Isaqueena Questers and through the sponsorship
of the Reliable Automatic Sprinkler Co., Inc.
The Pickens County Museum of Art & History, located at the intersection
of Highway 178 and Johnson Street (307 Johnson St) in Pickens, is open
Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Thursday from
9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to.4:30 p.m..
