September 18</span></b>. This evening starts at 5:00 p.m. with a sneak preview
of the <b><span style='font-weight:bold'>“Lock, Stock & Barrel:
Hunting in a Different Era”</span></b> exhibition that fills two of the
Pickens County Museum’s changing exhibit galleries. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Arial'><o:p> </o:p></span></font></p>

gallery will hold displays of flintlock and percussion style rifles and
features an original 1846 Gillespie Rifle. Shooting bags, powder horns, and a
special exhibit of turkey calls on loan from the National Wild Turkey
Federation in Edgefield help round out this show. Don’t miss the Sealevel
gallery and its “Trading Post” setting highlighting items like the
ones once traded in our area at the Beamer Trading Post in Estatoee Valley. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

style='font-weight:bold'>6:00 until 6:30 p.m.</span></b> the author <b><span
style='font-weight:bold'>Dennis</span></b> <b><span style='font-weight:bold'>Glazener</span></b>
will present a “<b><span style='font-weight:bold'>History of the
Gillespie Rifle</span></b>” program in the LaVonne Nalley Piper
Auditorium. Dressed in 1820s attire, Mr. Glazener, author of the book “<b><span
style='font-weight:bold'>The Gillespie Gun Makers of East Fork, NC</span></b>,”
will tell about the early days of the Gillespie family and its move to the Old
Pendleton District of SC. He will explain how John Gillespie and his sons
designed the Gillespie rifle and will display his original Mathew Gillespie
rifle. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

you can participate in a question and answer period and from 7:00 until 7:30
the evening will wrap up with a book signing. Bring your copy of Mr.
Glazener’s book or purchase one for $ 20.00 at this program. Mr. Glazener
is graciously donating $ 5.00 from each of his book sales this evening to the
Pickens County Museum.</span></font><o:p></o:p></p>

the museum’s continuing effort to provide a variety of entertaining and
educational programming for the community. The Pickens County Museum of Art
& History is funded in part by Pickens County, members and friends of the
museum and a grant from the South Carolina Arts Commission, which receives

until 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Admission is free
