Grants Writing Workshop for Community Cultural Projects

FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

The Humanities CouncilSC, in partnership with the South Carolina Federation of Museums and McKissick Museum, is hosting a FREE grants writing workshop and invites staff and volunteers of all South Carolina cultural organizations and nonprofit agencies to attend. Admission to the workshop is free, pre-registration is REQUIRED, and lunch will be provided.

The workshop will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2009, 10:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at the I.P. Stanback Museum and Planetarium at South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, SC.

Staff, officers, and Board members of The Humanities CouncilSC, the South Carolina Federation of Museums, and the McKissick Museum will lead participants in a general grants writing overview, will highlight local and federal funding opportunities for cultural projects, and will offer feedback on project ideas and application drafts. (**Participants are encouraged to bring application drafts.) This workshop offers a unique learning opportunity for cultural organizations of all sizes and provides the opportunity for partnership building between local organizations with similar missions.

11:15 - 11:30 a.m. - Break
11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. - Grants Writing 101 - Part 2
12:30 - 1:00 p.m. - Lunch and Partnership Building
1:00 - 2:30 p.m. - Overview of Funding Sources for Community Cultural Projects
2:30 - 3:30 p.m. - Networking and Application Draft Assistance (small groups)
3:30 p.m. - Adjourn, **though participants are welcome to stay for additional one-on-one conversation with workshop leaders
